Like so many PushPress gym owners, Cathy Adrian has a story to tell. Adrian is the owner of Adventure Awaits CrossFit in Weston, WI.

Last year, the five-year lease she had signed was coming up on its expiration date. Commercial rent prices in her area had increased considerably and she had a decision to make.

“We didn’t want to renew our lease there,” said Adrian. “So we were deciding whether to move on from gym ownership or get a new location.”

As luck would have it, the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself. One of her members, a real estate investor, offered to build her a space. He would own the building and she would rent. So they set out to design and build the 7,000-square-foot facility. It includes 1,000 square feet of mezzanine lounge space and became the perfect new home for Adrian’s gym.

Making the Switch to PushPress.

Everything was looking up for Adventure Awaits CrossFit. But there was one thing Adrian knew she needed help with: Her gym management software. Since opening the gym in 2019, she had been using RhinoFit, which she joked was comparable to the old-school “DOS version of computers.”

She said the main function of RhinoFit was processing invoices. However, the system wasn’t automated so she had to go in and manually bill her 180 members, one at a time.

“It wasn’t user friendly and it had a (online review) rating of two,” she said. Then she laughed as she added, “But it was $35 a month.”

So Adrian set out to make a change in what she called her “opportunity year to make everything better.” She shopped around, narrowing the options down to PushPress and one other company. But after working with PushPress Account Executive Kurt Miller, the decision was easy.

1. Simple Admin for Memberships and Drop-Ins.

Right off the bat, Adrian was able to save copious amounts of time on processing memberships. With PushPress Core, she could automate invoicing and say goodbye to the days of manual entry.

Adventure Awaits CrossFit also gets a decent number of visitors, and PushPress has streamlined the drop-in experience. Before, RhinoFit didn’t integrate with her website. This meant drop-ins would show up just before class, still needing to pay and sign a paper waiver.

Now, drop-ins can use the PushPress software to sign a digital waiver and pay in advance. This saves her coaches unnecessary work and time as they prepare for class.

2. Branded App.

One of the options Adrian’s members enjoy the most is the Branded App. She noted that it’s user-friendly and intuitive, making it simple for her community to do everything from reserving classes to logging workouts.

“It’s integrated and more streamlined, and up to date with what you need.”

It’s only just the beginning for Cathy Adrian and Adventure Awaits CrossFit. She’s only two months into using PushPress software and knows she has only scratched the surface.

“I feel like I have the Cadillac version of what I had before,” she said.
